After deciding we were going to buy a boat so we could learn to sail, it took us 12 months to find the right fit for us. The whole time we were saving our pennies and learning what would suit complete novices. This was HARD! Fortunately we had a friend and mentor who helped us in the process. Being in the first year of COVID with lockdowns and boarder restrictions, it was hard to inspect boats the popped up in different states. We lived on YachtHub, gumtree and marketplace waiting for the right buy. Finally one morning Josh found an Adams 35, listed just the night before he called the owner and got his spot in the buyer que (3rd).

As the boat was in Mooloolaba QLD and we were unable to cross the boarder from NSW we had to sit and hope we could get to the front of the line. When we did we organised a survey report, waited for the boarder to open and went and inspected in the day it did. We slept on the beach the night before we inspected the boat. The next day we purchased it on the spot for the asking price of 35k (every cent to our name!) Josh embarked on his second ever sail delivering the boat home with the owner
